A new craft brewery in northern Ontario is hoping to tap into the booming beer market by tapping into the local economy.
The Breweries Ontario has launched a social media campaign aimed at getting people talking about their beer.
“It’s going to be a really fun thing for the people who love beer and are interested in sharing it,” said CEO Matt Slinger.
He says it’s not a huge change for the local community.
“We want to tap the social media and the Internet and talk to people and try and get them to go out and drink,” he said.
A social media blitz will kick off on Thursday and will be followed by a press conference to share more information about the brewery and a launch party.
The brewery, which is named The Brewers, is also taking advantage of the brewery boom in other areas of the country.
It’s opening a new location in London, Ontario, next week.
It was the first craft brewery to open in Canada.
In the U.S., there are more than 2,000 craft breweries.
Slinger says it will be a great opportunity for the brewers to expand their brands.
“Our goal is to grow the market and expand our business, and we’re really looking forward to that,” he added.
The campaign will also target people who are interested to learn more about the beer, Slinger said.
“There’s so many people who don’t know about this stuff and we want to get them in front of the product.”
For those who can’t make it to the event, the brewery is also selling t-shirts and stickers to raise money for The Brews.
“They’re really going to help us out,” Slinger told CBC News.
